Gotham FC
NY/NJ women's professional team playing in the NWSL
Gotham FC is the longest operating women's professional team in the United States. They were founded in 2006 as Sky Blue and rebranded to Gotham FC in 2021. Over the years, Gotham FC has had multiple public scandals and gone through various managers and coaches.

Phil and Tammy Murphy co-founded Jersey Sky Blue with Steven Temares, Franeso Prandoni andd Thomas Hofstetter as a part of the USL W-League.
August 2009

Sky Blue FC won its first championship.

The U.S. Soccer Federation announced the launch of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) with Sky Blue FC as one of its members.

Sky Blue FC received a lot of backlash from players and fans due to poor player conditions, facilities, and management.

Freya Coombe left Gotham FC to coach Angel City FC, and was replaced by Scott Parkinson
